Results

To determine whether states are fulfilling their transnational duties to the hungry child through the provision of international assistance and cooperation, a statistical analysis is conducted on 104 developing countries from 1990–2006. An unbalanced panel statistical technique with country random effects is used to analyze the effects of foreign aid and trade on childhood stunting rates. The results are presented in Table 4.1. Please see Chapter 2 for a detailed explanation of the estimation technique, potential limitations, and statistical tests used in this book. Table 2.2 will provide a summary of the operationalization of the variables.

The model on extraterritorial obligations explains 61 percent of the variance in childhood stunting rates. Consistent with past research on malnutrition, the
